There isnt a vaccine to prevent Bird Flu. However I was reading that studies have shown that patients with the virus can be treated with antiviral medication such as tamiflu as has been mentioned in other threads on this website. At the moment the disease is primarily in south east asia so if you are travelling there you must keep away from poultry farms in risk areas. Currently this disease can only be transmitted via an infected bird to humans....However as far as i understand it - with all strains of influenza there is potential for change and experts are concerned that if this does occur we could see an influenza pandemic spread across the world....gulp....

i read on a news channel that it is highly liekly that bird flu will mutate into a form that will spread through humans...i hope that this tamiflu works!!!!!! Should we stock up or what..has anyone actually bought it yet?

has anyone actually had tamiflu here? Do you have to have a prescripiton for it???I read that it is being stockpiled to fight against the bird and pig flu which is apparently speading.....should i be worried or not??

I have heard that there has been some talk about the bird flu spreading to the U.K as well. How true is this?

Ya I came across an article on the net a few days ago regarding the bird flu alarm in the U.K. .....but I don't remember the url..maybe....no. Ok ..I'll let you know when I find that.

I'm from the U.K as well..but never heard about the bird flu thing as a potential risk to us. Henry can you tell me where did you heard that?
