It seems as though people have stopped talking about the bird flu epidemic... I can see that there were a number of people who bought Tamiflu. No one has posted anything in a while and I am wondering whether it is still a worry for some people. Just becuase the press have stopeed covering the story I am worried there may be another break out. What are people thinking these days?

The reason that the hype regarding bird flu has calmed down is for a simple reason. People will never believe there is a danger from the bird flu virus unless something happens right on their door step. However the fact is that the bird flu virus has killed over 230 people worldwide and almost 400 people have contracted it.(official figures from the World Health Organisation). In the UK we don't pay much attention when someone dies of bird flu in Indonesia or Egypt and we'll only wake up to the dangers when someone dies here or in Europe. Tamiflu has been given the status of the most effective medication to treat the virus by the WHO and as a result the UK has stocked up with masses but not enough for everyone in UK. Health workers will be given priority access to the drug and therefore having your own supply for you and your family isn't a bad idea. The UK government doesn't want people to panic but are taking the situation seriously enogh to have located special sites for mass graves! http://www.ukmedix.com/tamiflu/tamiflu-mass-graves.cfm Scientists say that it is just a question of WHEN the H5N1 flu virus will mutate rather than IF it will.
