I have been taking xenical for the last few months; my bmi is 34 and my doc told me i had to change my diet and also he precribed me xenical.

i have had pretty good results having lost 12 pounds which i am very happy about. my concern is christmas and am happy to have found this forum to that effect.

My question really is this: I have taken xenical with a low fat diet so have not (thank goodness) had any efffects of the 'oily poo' business - but with christmas fast approaching ought i forget the xenical b/c the digested results would be unbearable? Has anyone eaten an f
very fatty meal such as chrismas dinner with xenical? Just courious thanks!

Hi Presnige12; i read your other postings on xenical!

I am about to start taking xenical but the thing is that i am unsure whether to take reductil instead. Maybe one of the reasons why i more interested in reductil is for the reasons that you state in this posting board here.

WIsh i could help you with your question - well done with the loss by the way you must be happy about that.

Can I ask you: why did your doctor prescibe you with xenicla and not reductil?? also, did you find that your initial weight loss was immediate or was it noticeable over a few months? thansk Kirsty   X

It is quite the opposite with me, but I think I am a lucky case.  My system tends toward constipation so when I take the Xenical with real fatty meal it still comes out oily but not like diarrhea.  It is a formed stool.  I am dying to get my order for it as I type because I have been out all weekend and ate bad and wish I had it on hand.

I ate so bad all the time and purposely ate superfatty foods so more calories would be siphoned off.  Lost around 13 lbs this way.  Now I only take the Xenical in the AM most days cuz I eat an omelet made with whole eggs.  However with the big meals it may become an all-day thing some days this month.

Now I am happy to say I am on a 1800 calorie diet and am sticking with it (except for bad weekends once in a while).  I allow myself some leeway so I can stick to it instead of trying to expect perfection and setting myself up for failure.  Also at this point in the game severely restricting calories could result in a metabolism slow down, then I'd be finding myself having to eat 1200 calories/day just to maintain my weight which wouldn't be good.  I may save the restricting approach til later.
