Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum, but I need your help. I want to quit so bad, but every morning that I run out of cigs I go and get a new pack. I hate being dependent on it, I hate how my clothes smell, I'm scared down to my socks about the side effects..but I just cant do it! I've tried quitting before, with patches. I actually quit for 6 months once and then I picked up again.. Please any advice is welcome...

I see you wrote this a while ago and noone replied. I think I know why. I am not going to sit here and be sensitive to you when you have all the tools to quit. You HATE being dependant, you HATE the way your clothes smell. Well to me you hate it yet you still do it. Only you can start to STOP. People come on here becuase they get going and get started. You just sound a bit pathetic. This is tough love. Get on the champix and stop TODAY. J

Farah, you are contradicting yourself. Everyone has a right to say what they want. Isn't that the whole point of Forums?

I just figured we could all be a little bit more helpful rather than so judgemental. Simple really Jerry, I believe in helping people rather than upset people.

Hi, I see you want to stop but can't. I was a forty a day man until I became serious about the stopping due to the same reasons you have. May I say firstly, that you must want to quit, set yourself a target date and go to your Dr and get him to put you on Zyban. They definately worked for me and I have never had the intention to start again. Some report bad side effects but that can be put down to the persons metabolism, I personally never had any. I in fact started taking the Zyban as stipulated for four days and plus the fact it was Christmas time, a bad time for smokers to even attempt to stop, I went off the craving onn the fourth day, ok I went for seven hours then stupidly picked one up and lit it. Next day I stopped completely and haven't had one since, but bear with me, that craving will never leave you, especially after meals when you enjoy a fag most or whenever it is, but once you've stopped for two weeks it becomes the norm and you're not interested to have one. It's all psychological, some people can do it without drugs, just willpower, but Zyban gives you that feeling of not needing the dreaded dose that your body has become used to on a daily, hourly or whatever basis. It's all in the mind but Zyban did definately help me.
