I posted this in another forum but I actually think it is worth of its own thread. I need encouraging words for my partner. He has smoked all his life and is over 40 now..is there any words of encouragement I can use to start him into thinking that giving-up might be the right option? I am happy to get him Champix if its going to help but he doesnt even want to quit and besides telling him that its bad for him or bad for me, what can I say to him?? I really need advice from people who have given up, what was it that made you do it?!?

It's a tough one Lady. He has to want to do it for himself otherwise he won't succeed. But i really believe that if you show him how horrible it is he will make that step. Take him to a Cancer ward and shock him into making that change. If you are thinking of having children together say you wont until he stops smoking. After all cot death is linked to smoke. I am giving you shock tactics here because Perhaps it is the only way to open his eyes. I hope this helps... F
