From what I understand zyban is more hardcore than champix and the side effects are worse in zyban. Are you asking because you are taking these medications?

I realise you only wanted to hear from people who have tried both, but I am currently on Champix, and hubby has *been* on Zyban, and I wanted you to hear our tale... He didn't lose any cravings. The only 'effect' the Zyban had for him was that he didn't enjoy the ciggys as much. He went onto a higher dose (on advice of the GP) which somewhat curbed the cravings, but only because the pills made him so sick. As if that wasn't bad enough, he also suffered with dreadful insommnia. And he also suffered with headaches and dizziness. (But in fairness that may not have been connected, as he suffers with another problem with those two symptoms). After 3-4 weeks on the pills, he quit, and went back to ciggys, and is smoking as much as ever! I started on Champix almost 3 weeks ago. I no longer have any cravings, admittingly, I haven't managed to lose the ciggys completely yet (1 today), it is purely habit that is drawing me to them. I don't enjoy them. The only side effects I have had (so far) are nausea (quite bad), but in the mornings only, starting around day 5, lasting for about a week. And very vivid dreams. Some good, some bad (normal really), just very, very vivid! I know side effects are different for everyone, but I know which I'd be recommending!! Good luck with whichever you choose! Evuk xx

The thing with smoking is you have to really want to give up. This is why poeple bounce back into smoking all the time. There is a lady on this site called Cheryl42 who finally decided to give up for real as opposed to heading into it with an attitude that could easily be swayed. She wanted to give up before her wedding and save money form all the cigarettes that she would have bought and put it towards something worth wile. I think if you put a goal in front of you, like a time frame or giving up becuase you are making the people around you sick then you have more willpower to give up. You have to mentally really want to give up before you do!

Any updates on how the giving up is going? I like to hear success stories as it encourages me every day. Thanks RL
