Last summer my boyfriend asked me to marry him and I said yes. We decided to mark this new stage of our lives by both stopping smoking. We did for a while only having the odd one in weak moment. A lot of our friends smoke so we are always surrounded by the idea of popping outside for a ciggy when we are at the pub. Then when I go home to visit my parents they smoke too. My mother smokes anytime, anyplace anywhere… I feel like I will fall back into the habit and feel myself wanting to give up.. giving up! I am thinking about trying Zyban or Champix but I am extremely weary of the side effects. Besides that I am also worried about the cost. Will I be dependant on them for a long time? I am saving towards my wedding will it start effecting my savings over a long period?

Hi there, Congratulations on your engagement! I had a similar situation, maybe it can help. Think of your wedding day and some one catching a photo of you in your lovely dress... with a fag in your hand... now i am sure it won't make the album but still it isn't the most elegant photo huh? I don't know if you have had a chance to read up on Champix since you posted your message but my experience with Champix has really reduced my dependancy on nicotine. People may be smoking around me but I don't feel like smoking. That may help when you think about visiting your parents or going out with friends who smoke. Everyone is different when it comes to the side effects from Champix so there is no real answer to your question. People notice a change in their smoking after a week so it really does work. You won't know until you try. I tried giving up so many times and Champix has been working for me so far. The question is do you want to be dependant on buying cigarettes forever with the prices constantly going up or do you want to pay for a course of Champix where you will kick the habit and save even more towards your wedding! Hope this helps and good luck!

Good point Bordeaux. You are going to spend far more money if you continue smoking than if you quit using Champix. Check out the following article to see what you could do with the money you save Cheryl. http://www.ukmedix.com/champix/champix-smoking-house.cfm Oh and before I forget...Congratulations!

Hey Cheryl, I just came across a couple of articles from the Ukmedix Newsroom about Katherine Heigl quitting smoking for her wedding day and it made me think of you... a big hello to you all, i haven't been around for ages, with all the wedding plans time has flown by. i have big big news... I have been taking Champix now for 2 months almost and I have anothe month to go with my course and i haven't had a cigarette in 6 weeks! I don't want one and I don't miss them! My wedding is in June! i counted up the money i would have saved on buying ciggies every other day and will soon have enough to take me and my soon to be hubby away for a weekend after we are married! I can't tell you how much i have changed! I owe Uk medix a lot, your support has been great, i didn't exect anyone to reply to my post and really it is where it has all started! So a big thank you! xxx

Hi Cheryl I dont understand how you are worried about the cost,I spend £6.00 a day on fags but a 2 week prescription is only £7.10 The cost is irrelevant,It is an awful lot cheaper than fags which is why I am on champix at the moment.
