Today's Day 14, my quit day. So far so good. Didn't even feel like my usual smoke with coffee this morning. Fingers crossed .. and thanks for all the inspiration on this site.

Hi Cindy I hear that nausea is fairly common with Champix. I only had a few waves of it when I first started, but it does seem to affect people differently. Keep going 'cos it will improve. BTW it's day 2 of smoke-free for me today and I've only had one really strong craving. Keep it up - you'll get there. Cheers Kaz

Hi lins and thanks for the encouragement - hope it's going well for you too. Yes I've tried quitting lots before. The only times I was successful was when I was pregnant - and that's a drastic thing to do to give up smoking! Champix is working very well for me. It's now day 3 and it's already getting so much easier. But, given the info about side effects, if you can do it CT that's probably best. I just knew I couldn't. Keep going! Cheers Kaz

Hi Lins Hang in there mate! If there's crap going on, you can at least feel good about yourself for not smoking. I know that doesn't take the craving away, but it's something. I have two daughters in their 20s. Haven't told them I'm quitting - want it be a surprise. They will be so pleased, they used to nag me about it all the time, which only made me stubborn and want to smoke more! This forum is great for distraction when you want a smoke, so keep posting! Cheers Kaz

alright! cheers Kaz for the words, but i caved and went n bought 10 fags, i smoked 3 and then felt really guilty for it. i aint smoked yet today, so i thought about what you wrote. how comes you aint told your kids? i understand the pressure we put ourselves under when trying to quit, if we tell everyone then its even more pressure and i know from past times trying that i felt worse when i ended up smoking again! today is another day and im determined not to smoke today! im going cinema tonight, so that wont finish till late and then i just gotta go to bed! cheers again linsx

Hiya Lins Hope the cinema is good. Don't beat yourself up about smoking yesterday, just keep on trying. I caved in with alcohol last night. I've been trying to stop that too because smoking and drinking go hand in hand for me. But I had a few drinks and was OK - had a bit of a craving for a cigarette but managed it. Have to say, I don't think I could do it without Champix, so I really admire you for going CT. I agree it's more pressure if you tell people. That's why I haven't told the kids. Reckon I'll wait until three months ... Hope things are getting better for you and keep going! Cheers Kaz

I couldn't have done it without my wife and kids. I've told everyone that I was starting the champix pills, and they've all been really supportive. Maybe I might have snuck off for a fag otherwise, I don't know. But when they looked impressed with me, I feel proud that I've done it. It's a good feeling!
