Hi
Just found this forum and have been reading a few of the posts.  I started taking Champix 2 weeks ago on 2nd feb, stopped smoking exactly a week later on 9th feb and have been smoke free for a week now and really pleased however the nausea i'm getting is pretty much constant and very unpleasant, does anyone know if this will subside as i get further into the course?  Also if i smell smoke (on peoples clothing, or passing a smoker in the street) i feel even more sick, is this happening to anyone else?  I am due to see the nurse on wed, i'm wondering if there is something she can give me to help with this?  I am getting other side effects (weird dreams, tiredness, headache) but i can pretty much cope with them.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

hey there
tracy - i started champix on 1st feb and had awful sickness feelings, nausea and the smell of smoke on other people really made me heave. I was actually sick ona  couple of times too, but today i rang the nurse at gp and she said to stick with it, that the sickness will ease off and that if it doesnt after another week then go for a check up.
i get bad bouts of nausea in the afternoons and evenings, it like food repeating itself and a sicky feeling in my tummy. is that the same as what your getting?
hope you feel better today

Hi
Thanks for your reply.  You seem to have similar side effects to me, i saw the nurse today and she has recommended i half the dose from 2mg per day to 1mg per day, half a tablet in the morning and the other half with my evening meal, that means a 2 week pack of champix will now last 4 weeks.  Hopefully this will work for me, will be starting tomorrow.  Will keep you informed.

HEY THERE
i just read your post on the other room and thought id better reply here too!
I saw that bit on yours about your nurse telling you to change the dosage, which is great! I got to ring mine back today as nothing was mentioned by her when i told her how sick id been feeling!
How are you doing today? well done on keeping smoke free, ive been bad and had a couple of bad days where i smoked, but nothing compared to how many i would have before!
plsu im trying to be active and keep things to make me busy so i dont think about the fags!

alright!

so how much do you guys pay for this champix pills? are they free if your on a low income? through the docs or something?
i know years ago there was a pill on precription and if you were single parent on low income, you got it for free...cant remember what it was called now, but it made you stop smoking in a few months too.
the side effects of this champix dont sound too nice, sounds like having morning sickness!! haha!

Hi
CINDY-i have been taking half dosage Champix for 2 days now and feel fine, hardly any nausea, feel more "with it" however the thought of having a cig dosent repulse me as much as it did do when i was on full dose, my mum came round today and smoked near me and it didnt bother me at all whereas before it made me feel really sick to be around her when she smoked, i'm just hoping that i dont feel tempted now that the smell of smoke isnt bothering me, if that happens i will try and persevere with full dose again as i so dont want to smoke again, i feel healthier and cleaner now i'm fag free!!  Have a nice weekend and let me know if you speak to your nurse about changing your dose.
LINS-Champix costs me the price of a regular prescription, around £7ish, if you have an exemption certificate through disability/low income etc you may get it free on the nhs, your gp/nurse will be able to advise you.  The side effects seem to vary from person to person, you may find you dont get any at all, i'm ok now i have changed my dosage.  Have a nice weekend.

alright!
tracy, i been reading up a fair bit on champix and think im gonna stick to how i am right now, so far so good and i still aint had a fag. I do get cravings but am trying to be good and carry something around with me, i bought one of those nicorette fake fags - i look like a twit with it, but its kind of like having a fag, i get the nicotine but not the bad stuff!
im really finding these rooms so helpful and Digger is like God, such a trooper at 70 years old - what an inspriration.
Hope you had a good weekend...remember to just take each day and think long term that you will be a non smoker for good.

hey there
So how is everyone doing? Not been on here yesterday as was swimming and by time i got home, sorted kids out...i was knackered!
How you goin Tracy? has the sickness stopped now?
my sickness has gone totally, although sometimes if i smell smoke on someone else, it makes me feel a bit sick and choky if that makes sense! but all good now, on a lower dosage and better for it.
Dreading this weekend tho, as got a massive party which will be very alcohol fuelled and thats when im at my weakest!

The first time I walked behind someone who was smoking on the street, I
was almost sick. I had to cross to the other side of the road. It's very
unpleasant to smell other peoples smoke still, but I don't feel as sick as I
used to when I smell it.
