Hi - just wondering how everyone's been. Lins - are you hanging in there? Digger - you're an inspiration. Jo-kat, Cindy, Houghton and everyone else - how's it going?
For me, well a blip on Friday night (5 smokes with too much alcohol, should have listened to you Digger), but apart from that, pretty damn good. I even have a packet at home (bought on Friday night) and haven't been tempted for four days (think the Saturday hangover helped). I look at them and think yuck!
This forum is the best thing. Hope you're all doing fine.

hey peeps
you are so right Kazzle about this forum, I reckon if it wasnt here - i know i would probably still be smoking. Im on day 16 now on champix and have had a couple of blips too, got sickness feelings still but not as bad as the first few days of taking it. Also managed to loose a few pounds too, but reckon thats down to the sickness and not wanting to eat much as everytime i smell food i feel sick!
How are you doing?

Hi folks
I'm doing OK, keeping busy, watching the winter olympics for distraction ... Had a really bad dream last night though. I've been having really vivid dreams ever since I started on Champix but they've all been good and I was really enjoying them. But last night was awful, hope that doesn't keep up.
Well done Cindy getting to day 16, I'm on day 14. The water is good idea Lins, I'm drinking so much of it at work.
Keep it up guys!
Cheers
Kaz

ive smoked pretty much all my life from about age 14 or so!
ive had a couple of bad days and caved but so far, now counting day 17 or 18 but going to have to minus the bad days off as id smoked on them!
still got sick feelings but not had any bad dreams...
maybe thats to do with the brain being more alert or something from not smoking? i dont know!

Hiya Cindy
How are you going - hope the sick feelings are going away. Do you take Champix with food? I find I feel sick if I don't.
Yeah I think we've all had days where we've caved in. I've had a couple but only when I drink too much. So I guess I'd better stop drinking too, at least for a while. Re how long I've smoked - about 25 years minus a couple when I had my kids. Wasn't always a heavy smoker but I built it up to about a packet a day over the past seven years - to the point where I got the wheezy rattles in my chest, constant cough etc. That's when I decided to quit.
I'm hoping to go back to the gym next week (haven't been for months). Maybe that will become my new addiction! (Ha!)
No more bad dreams yet fortunately.
Take care and stay strong. You're doing really well.
Kaz

hi Kazzle
You seem similar to me with regards to smoking, i, like you had been smoking for 25 years only stopping during my pregnancies, started off not very heavy but gradually built up.  I'm on day 10 now of being smoke free, i've been and bought a Wii Fit Plus and try and use it to exercise for at least 30mins a day plus i've started taking my dog on longer walks (used to drive her to a nearby field then let her run round!!) now i leave the car at home.
I'm really glad i found this forum, knowing there are others going down the same road as me is helpful.
Have a nice weekend

Hi Tracy
I've thought about getting one of those Wi things, but it would probably go the same way as the exercise bike I have upstairs and have never used (actually it's my husband's and he doesn't use it either). Think I need the discipline and company of a bossy gym instructor.
BTW everyone, I saw my doctor this morning and she was very cautionary about the 'blips'. She said that once I'm off Champix I will find it harder to keep off the fags if I've been 'blipping' close to the time I go off the drug. Must admit, I hadn't thought about what happens post-Champix. So, no more 'blips' for me.
Have a good week.

I've been going just over four weeks now, and I've managed to not have
any 'blips' - I just can't describe how fortunate I feel for that. I was a
very heavy smoker for 5 decades, so I should be one of the best
candidates for failure on Champix. But I've had such support from the
family, that I don't feel I could start again - I'd feel too guilty. I think
mentally I was really ready to give up. I was smoking out of habit
rather than enjoying it anymore. I knew I was polluting the house every
time I lit up and it made me feel guilty. My doctor was absolutely
amazed. I think he thought I was a lost cause.

I did have a few nights bad sleep but otherwise its been plain sailing.
But I agree with you, I've found this forum very useful, I couldn't have
done it without all the information being so easy to find out. But if I
can do it, so can you! Just keep going, maybe do the course a couple of
times. By the end of this year we'll all be non smokers!

I remember when you started taking it Digger, that's so cool its worked
for you. The scientists must be getting something right! Hope it continues
that way for you.
