Hi All, Im New to this..was just looking at some Champix reviews and found this site. Its my first day taking the Champix today and im a little nervous. Most of the reviews i have read are good. Im just a little worried about getting Nausea as i work in a Hot Spa. But i am eating before taking the tablet. I really hope this works..as id like to save money so me and my other half can go on holiday..he is also trying to give up but with Nicorette Inhalers. I got prescriped Champix before but wasnt ready to give up so never bothered..but my boyfriends mum suffered a Heart attack a few weeks ago at just 46 and smoking played part of it..and it made me re-think. Im only 21 so i think if i give up now i could get healthier and richer

Hi Steffii, Good luck with it all! There's no need to be worried about the nausea - as you say, if you take it after food then it doesn't really happen. I was also told to take it with half a glass of milk rather than water and this helps a lot. On the odd occasion that I've had to take it on an emptyish stomach the nausea has been fairly mild, and usually gone after 5 mins. The trick is to just keep positive about the whole experience, and you'll be feeling the benefits before you know it. Enjoy! (I've been off the fags just over 3 weeks and yet to have the slightest twinge

Thank You so much for the little tips..ill definately try the milk. Ive felt fine so far today but im only on the half ones in the morning. Ive also heard that you should take the night ones earlier on to avoid bad sleep...is this true?? Im definately going to stick to this..i want a nice hot holiday. Nobody at my work smokes so their all being so supportive which helps..i cant wait to be a non-smoker.

Good luck to you. On your point about bad sleep, I would take it a bit earlier. I had some terrible nights sleep with strange dreams at the beginning, my heart would really race. But it did calm down, and I think take the pill earlier in the evening helped.

Hi Steffi, Agree with Digger here - my stop smoking advisor recommended taking it 3-4pm. Have had no problems with sleeplessness, but do get the strange dreams still (usually enjoyable though!) Hope things are going ok for you. Cheers, Dan

Hi Everyone.. Im on my 3rd Day Now!! And i can already feel affects. I dont have that craving to smoke and when i so smoke its not pleasurable at all. Ive changed my cigarettes from strong strength ones to the smooths. I did start feeling a little dizzy last night but only lasted about an hour. I go on to the 0.5mg twice a day tomorrow...a little nervous but then excited not to do this awful habit anymore.

Sounds like you'd be better off taking Champix, than continuing smoking if its had such a bad effect on your family. Ask the doc if its risky - but sounds riskier to continue the way that you are. Your genes may be predisposed to cancer, so whatever you can do to stop smoking is the best bet I'd say..
