Hi, I started taking CHAMPIX for the first time on the 9th June. I lost my best friend to lung cancer on the 10th May this year and my last promise to her was that I would give up smoking. I have tried loads of different ways in the past and nothing has worked. I am 47 and have smoked for the last 33 years averaging about 30 ciggies a day. I have not had a cigarette for 10 days and am so proud of myself, but the side effects for me are horrendous, nausea, severe headaches, inflammation of my sinuses, mouth ulcers, weird dreams, craving for FRUIT!!!!!!!!!!!! Has anyone else suffered these I have been to my doctors and he said to stop taking the tablets if I can't handle the side effects but I so desperately want to give up and keep my promise to my friend that I keep struggling on, telling myself that it's only for another 9 weeks. My husband is still smoking and hasn't realised that I have packed in and haven't had a cigarette for 10 days, he still brings me a 20 pack back from the supermarket in the evenings lol. I will tell him when I finish the course if he still hasn't noticed by then. So some buddies out there to help me thorough the next 9 weeks would be really great. Shelle x

Hi: Well, I started Champix on June 1st and I have been doing wonderful but also have side effects; constipation, craving chocolate, but the weird dreams are finished. Tonight I am REALLY struggling. I went off the tabs two days ago because I have gained weight and SO tired of being constipated. Not sure now if that was a good idea but told myself some go cold turkey and I have been off cigs for over a month now so why do I need to keep taking the meds. I think I know now and need to go back on them tonight. REALLY, REALLY wanting a cigarette!

Hi Shelle and lefsaqueen, had my first dose of Champix on the 1st of August, been 10 days already and the resistance to cigarettes are getting heavier. Am proud of you both, keep up the good work. days of suffering from cigarettes will soon be gone, for sure. In the first place, why should we be suffering from this nonsense. Let's do it once and for all Cheers!

It's me again......went off the medication about a month ago and the cravings slowly came back which in turn started smoking again a week ago. It would have been over 4 months if I had not taken that first cigarette. So, today I am back on Champix and this time I will complete my 3 months or more on this medication. I KNOW I can do it and have saved over $1300.00 so far. Smoking my LAST cigarette out of my LAST package as I type. Freedom is just around the corner!! Good luck and God Bless each and every one of you who are just starting this journey!

I am on my 14th day smoke free with Champix and am just about to start on my 2nd set of tablets. However friends have shown concern about the side effects and the vivid dreams are getting exhausting. I'm also very weary some days with no energy. My question is has anyone succeeded without taking the 2nd course of tablets? I would love to know that I could just stop them now without having to complete the entire course. - any views welcome.
