I belive that one of the major differences is that Zyban has been noted for causing depression in certain people that tried this medication

I tried Zyban many years ago and can honestly say it was awful! I felt very very "odd" extremely "aware" of everything going on around me and hated it so much I had to stop within 2 weeks of starting the programme! Didn't work for me as I wasn't depressed and Zyban remember is an anti-depressant. I am now 5 days into using the Champix and although it is making me feel pretty sick an hour into taking the first tablet in the morning I am having none of the syptoms I experienced on Zyban. I am told that the sickness will subside in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed I will be OK! It is doing what it says on the tin and already my smoking has been greatly reduced - can't smoke a whole cigarette and have on had 5 today.

I have to agree, I tried Zyban about 10 years ago and felt like sh*t almost from the word go. I only too about 10 days of the course because I felt so lousy. I couldn't stop crying, felt like life wasn't worth living. Then again that is also a symptom of nicotine withdrawel, so perhaps I am wrongly blaming the Zyban. On the plus side I stopped smoking after even a reduced course of Zyban. It was over 5 years before I smoked again and that was because I was stupid enough to think I could just have a few fags and then go back to being a non-smoker again. I have to say though, for me Champix is not helping whatsover. I'm going to persevere because I've only been on them 5 days but I seem to want to smoke more than ever! Increased rather than reduced cravings! Good luck anyway! E x
