Viagra
competition
In addition to Viagra, which was the Pfizer breakthrough for the treatment
of erectile dysfunction, three other drug companies Abbot Laboratories,
Eli-Lilly and Bayer, have produced treatments for men’s impotence
problems.
Uprima (Abbot Laboratories) is a substance which contains apomorphine a
drug which is associated with neurological problems. Unlike Viagra which
relaxes the blood vessels in the penis, Uprima enhances libido by acting
on sensors in the brain to stimulate sexual arousal. Uprima is a faster
acting product and is absorbed under the tongue, therefore passing into
the bloodstream quickly. It can be helpful if you have difficulty swallowing
medicines in tablet form.
Cialis (Eli-Lilly) is a treatment for men which inhibit an enzyme found
in erectile tissue, promoting vascular and muscular changes that produce
an erection. The product works in similar way to Viagra, but it is claimed
to be both faster acting and effective for 24 hours or more. The same precautions
apply to Cialis as Viagra and indeed any prescribed medicine.
Levitra (Bayer) again works to alleviate erectile dysfunction in a similar
way to Viagra and Cialis. There are three potential doses of Levitra: 5mg.
10mg and 20mg. The doses may have to be adjusted by your doctor should the
initial dose not have the desired effect.
All medicines should be treated with respect and no treatment for impotence
problems should be taken in conjunction with any other medication. If you
unsure, or have any doubt consult your pharmacist or doctor.
