all about viagra
How was Viagra developed?

Viagra was developed by Pfizer to treat impotence or erectile dysfunction but it did not start out as a treatment that would become so wide spread and popular. Original the chemists at Pfizer were trying to develop a drug to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension and angina, not Viagra.

Work started on the development when Ferid Murad discovered that nitroglycerin releases nitric oxide. Nitric oxide causes the relaxation of the smooth muscle cells. He proved that the body produces nitric oxide to regulate blood vessels. Two other inventors then were involved who proved that nitric oxide could be used to treat heart disease and shock. They were called Robert Furchgott and Louis Ignarro, and there work was taking place back in 1986. It wasn’t until 1994 that Dr Nicholas Terrett was named on the patent for Sildenafil Citrate, what is now the active ingredient for Viagra, that tests were made into the effects on cardiovascular problems.

When the trials started into using Sildenafil Citrate on patients with heart disease it was found that the medication had little effect on the problem, but did cause an unexpected side effect, erections. The tests into using Sildenafil Citrate changed direction to test the new drug which became Viagra on men with erectile dysfunction or impotence instead and the results were very positive. This was when Viagra was born and it is now one of the most popular treatments on the market helping millions of men.

The men who have been labeled as the fathers of Viagra are Peter Dunn and Albert Wood who worked at the UK branch of Pfizer. Dunn and Wood worked on the process of mass producing the drug into an oral treatment. The Viagra name is thought to have come from a Sanskit word “vyaghra” meaning tiger, while others link the word to Niagara, as in Niagara Falls, for the sense of ejaculatory strength. The name Viagra is also associated with the words virile and vigor. The word Viagra is renowned for being an impotence drug to the point that some herbal aphrodisiacs as sold as herbal Viagra. Viagra also has other nicknames such as Vitamin V and The Blue Pill.

Even though Viagra is a prescription medication, many men find talking directly to their family doctor embarrassing, so they turn to professional online sources of Viagra such as UKMedix, who will carry out the consultation online and prescribe them the Viagra. The Viagra will them be delivered discreetly to their door. If you are considering buying Viagra online you must be careful that you are ordering genuine Viagra as there are many sites on the internet that sell fake or generic Viagra that could be harmful.
