Why Can I not take Reductil and Xenical together?

It is a simple case that one does not take 2 slimming tablets together, the

Skipping meals is never recommended when trying to achieve weight loss. It will only result in a loss of energy and can eventually affect your health and well being.

How long can I be on a continuous course of Reductil for?

You are able to continue on Reductil for a maximum of one year in total, any more than this may be dangerous.

We would always recommend that you start on the lowest dosage of a medication and increase only if necessary.

Does Reductil need time to build up in my system before it takes affect?

It is not a medication that needs time to build up in your system and should be effective straight away.

To reduce the weight successfully and to maintain your eventual weight our medical team recommend that you aim for a weight loss of about 2 lbs per week until ideal weight achieved.

Can I take Reductil if I am on Anti-depressants?

You should not take Reductil with antidepressants, under any circumstances.

Why (can I not take Reductil with anti-depressants) ?

Reductil and antidepressants should not be taken together as they are known to interact, causing  serotonin to accumulate in the brain which may result in a toxic reaction.  This can be fatal in some cases.

Is Xenical an appetite suppressant and if not how does it work?

No, Xenical works in your digestive system to block about 30% of the fat in the food you eat from being digested . 

How long can I be on a continuous course of Xenical for?

The use of Xenical for more than 2 years has not been studied thoroughly.

To reduce the weight successfully and to maintain your eventual weight you should aim to lose more than 5% of your weight within 3 months of starting treatment.

How can I make the results of taking Xenical more effective?

For most effective results you should aim to reduce calorie intake and try to avoid fatty foods. The body still needs fat, so the reductions should be spread across your three daily meals.

Will Exercise help me if I am on Xenical ?

Increasing your levels of physical activity in any way, however great or small, is good for you and will help you to reach your goal.

Which diet should I do whilst on Xenical ?

There is no fixed or recommended diet to comply with Xenical. Just ensure that you always eat sensibly and healthily.

You should take Xenical with a multivitamin and this should be taken at least 2 hours after a dose of Xenical or at bedtime.

Why do my stools appear to be oily?

The mechanism of action of Xenical results in undigested fat clearance which appears oily

I have taken Xenical before and have noticed that the ‘oily stool' side effects are less apparent, does that mean that it is not working as well this time?

The oily stools may be less apparent this time with Xenical as your diet may have changed (even very slightly) and your fatty intake may be reduced.  As you have taken Xenical before your body is also likely to be more used to it.

I enjoy a glass of wine every evening, is this ok with Xenical ?

Alcohol may be taken in moderation with Xenical but is important to note that it is not condusive to weight loss and should therefore be avoided.
